To cover the cost of the new entrance a one-time $50 special assessment will be sent out in late January with a due date of Feb. 28th.  Construction on the new entrance is expected to begin in March with an expected construction period of 6-8 weeks to complete the project and all associated landscaping.  Of course, this is all dependent on weather which can be tricky here in the Ohio valley as you well know.  Some key elements of the redesign include the following:

                  1. The center masonry unit which will measure approx. 10'x5' will

feature reclaimed stone from the current masonry units and will

be installed in a "dry-lay" technique known for it's longevity and

                      aesthetic value.

                  2.  The new entrance will use the current remaining sign that is now

seen on the right side entrance and will be securely anchored to

the masonry unit to avoid any more risks of thievery.

                  3.  The electric will be run under the road to the new unit and the

project will require the county light pole to be moved behind the

site of the new entrance masonry unit.

                  4.  A new maple tree will be added due to landscaping changes expected

with the addition of the central masonry unit and movement of the

                       county light pole.

                  5.  New dual side flower beds will be installed and will also used the

reclaimed stone from the current units and will feature 1' high

stone walls using the same dry-lay technique found in the central

                       masonry unit.

                  6.  New black 4 board fencing will be installed on the dual sides along

the back of the new flowerbeds for a total of appox. 40' in new

fencing that compliments the current fencing and aesthetics of the

new masonry unit and flower beds.

                  7.  Beautiful landscaped flowerbeds with shrubbery will be installed

in the two new walled flowerbeds where the old masonry units

used to stand that will further beautify our new entrance.

The officers of the FOKA would like to again thank everyone who voiced their opinions and provided input here on the website and at our FOKA meetings.  Your input helps us make our neighborhood a beautiful and fun place to live.  We hope everyone is looking forward to our new, remodeled front entrance!

CURRENT PROJECT: Front Entrance Revitalization

Thank you to everyone who attended the November meeting and voiced your opinion and voted on the new entrance design. FOKA President Ted Kaiser has fashioned the following art piece to give you an idea what the new entrance will look like with the single center masonry unit and dual flowerbeds.
